What is a loving kindness meditation?

This is a simple and short guided meditation including the phrases, "May you be loved, may you be safe, may you be happy, may you be safe."

In this short guided meditation, you start with a person you love and you send them loving kindness. Then you move to someone you have neutral feelings for, and you send them loving kindness. Next, you think of someone you have difficult feelings for and you (to the best of your ability) send them loving kindness. Finally, you send loving kindness to yourself.
